DEFINITION

Congruency

Two figures or objects are congruent if they have the same shape and size regardless of their position and arrangement.

Enlargement

Enlargement is a transformation in which all the points of an object move from a fixed point with a constant ratio.

Translation

A translation is a geometric transformation that slides a figure from one position to another without rotating, flipping, or changing its size.

Tesselation

A tessellation is a pattern of recurring shapes that fills a plane without leaving empty spaces or overlapping.

TRANSLATION

1.Identify the coordinate.
2.Upper one for horizontal movement
3.Below one for vertical movement
4.If moving to the left, it is negative number and vice versa.
5.If moving downward, it is negative number and vice versa.
6.Answer format: Translation ( upper=horizontal below=vertical)

ENLARGEMENT

1.Connect one of the points from object to the congruent point on the image.
2.Repeat this steps to one more points.
3.The intersect point is the centre.
4.Determine scale factor by using formula k = image length/object length.
5.Answer question: Enlargement, centre (x,y) with scale factor = ?
6.When determine area, Area of image = Area of object x (scale factor)²

REFLECTION

1.Determine the distance between corresponding point of image and object.
2.Devide the distance by 2.
3.The midpoint of the line is the reflection line.
4.Answer format : Reflection on line x/y=?

ROTATION

1.Find one pair of corresponding points
2.Find the centre of rotation
3.Find the angle
4.Determine the direction
5.Answer format: Rotation of (angle) clockwise / anticlockwise at centre (x,y)

COMBINED TRANSFORMATION

An object can perform more than one transformation and will produce an image based on the transformations involved. In general, the combination between the transformation A and transformation B can be written as transformation AB or transformation BA in the order of the desired transformation. Combined transformation AB means transformation B followed by transformation A
